a christmas tree for you

this was last year's doodle, actually.

mix and match: 01

whenever my sister come across any fancy coloured top or dress that she'd love to own, i'd hear her grumbled about wearing it only once because it's too fancy that if you wear it twice or thrice, people would notice. the key, if you really like that fancy thang, wear it once in a month. that's how i do it. here's a couple of ideas on how to wear it differently for different occasions.

very lively hairdo

that i'd love to own.

four leaf clover

it has been a while since i got tagged. i guess it's fun to do it once in a while. so i won't hesitate your request, O' dear xumb.

MY LUCKY FOUR FACTS.

• Four jobs I’ve had in my life:
i) i forgot my post at DeliFrance (or i don't know if there was a post to call) because i did the dishes & served the customers. but it lasted less than a month. it was somewhere after high-school.

ii) then while i was in college, i kind of helped around a friend's father's graphic/production house. we did an interactive CD for Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka on orchids and garden trees (whatever you call them).

iii) it's considered as volunteering but i still call it a job (because we got allowances) at Petrosains. it's a science centre on everything about petroleum. it was very fun and educative for me because i was never into science, really. after being a volunteer there for about two years, i learnt that science can actually be fun. i enjoyed handling birthday parties & special events especially because i get to do hands-on stuff. auww...i miss being there.

we get to eat free ice cream!

iv) i did some freelance graphic jobs before and i'm still doing it now. stuff like namecards, logos, fliers, you know, those graphic stuff. i'm not really good on motions though.

• Four movies/TV series I would watch over and over:
i) Science Of Sleep
ii) The Devil Wears Prada
iii) Stigmata
iv) The Darjeeling Limited

• Four places I’ve lived:
i) Taman Desa Keramat
ii) SS 18
iii) Deep Beach (haha!)
iv) Vista Pinggiran Putra

• Four places I’ve been for the past one week:
i) Mydin (they've got cool shits, yaw!)

i didn't mean to brag, but i had to.

ii) BarSonic
iii) Amcorp Mall (for bunny hunting)
iv) UOX Celcom at BB Plaza's rooftop for the White Shoes & The Couples' Company darlings :D

• Four people who e-mail me regularly:
i) Jobstreet
ii) Facebook
iii) Spams (on viagra especially -__-)
iv) Update on current job tickets

• Four of my favorite food:
i) daging salai masak lemak cili api (smoked beef with spicy coconut milk & tumeric)
ii) ikan patin masak tempoyak (silver catfish in durian paste)
iii) italian food
iv) junkfood (chips, biscuits)

• Four places I would rather be right now:
i) favourite island
ii) places that offers window shopping
iii) at home (i've so much laundry to do)
iv) Amsterdam

The Presets

i decided that to be a hardcore fan of an artiste is to at least like 95% of the songs in their albums. that's my point of view and if it's not yours, well, i can't do anything about it, can i? anyway, besides duo set Daft Punk, i've found another favourite somewhere last year (i totally forgot how i came across them). the first song that made me addicted was 'Kitty In The Middle' because of the beat which reminds me of rave-goth (owh. sue me), sounds like deep-minimal-electro where i imagine two girls in sexy cat costumes purring around the pole (future boyfriend, get a pole in the bedroom and i can show you the moves). anyway, i searched the internet about The Presets and i fell in love with a couple of other songs. later, lucky me, a friend gave me both of their albums; Beams (2005) and Apocalypso (2008) and i'm now very much obsessed with this duo. hailing from the land down under, Julian and Kim met when they were studying music in Sydney back in the 90's. they started off as Prop then The Presets when they decided they wanted to do something electronic. my current favourite tunes are 'Girl And The Sea', 'If I Know You', 'Talk Like That' (both original & remix by CFCF) and 'This Boy's In Love' (both original & remix by Life Like).

The Presets - Girl And The Sea

Girl and the Sea
Tonight the

Tonight the hills are watching her

as she runs towards the sea

yeah she runs so she be free

And of all the friends and enemies
shes made along the way

they are no where in her thoughts

as she dives beneath the waves

And he's the one that you've seen
sometimes on tv

and his shirt is on the ground

while he's tackled by police

and the parcel that he throws
across the bridge into the creek

it'll flow towards the sea

it will meet with her tomorrow

No place
some time
we'll clear

our eyes

and when

you're down

i'll come around

And all the
places
shes been along the way

flames are licken at their walls

night glows with their remains

From far away the animals
come gather round to see

but she knows not how they feel

and she knows not what it means

When she was young
we'd ask her what she'd like to be

and she'd close her eyes and dream...

...now we're no where in her thoughts

as she dives beneath the waves

A place
I've found could be all ours
but I've seen
where you would rather be

owh. i missed the part where they won a couple of awards at ARIA 2008 plus they followed Daft Punk on tour. need i say more?!!

this girl's in love! totally!!!

propeller island city lodge

if ever you're in Berlin with a pocket full of cash (or that valuable plastic card), don't forget to checkout the 45 different-themed rooms. you will surely get your exact taste of room. i've found mine. it's called Nudes.

Propeller Island City Lodge

stir

is this a sign?

these past few days i've been stumbling upon hamsters. hamster this, hamster that. "hey, why use dogs for your logo? why not hamsters?"

if it IS, what sort of a sign?
no. it's not a sign. it's definitely just me going out of my mind.

people, there are more cuter things around. i.e. kittens, rabbits, pandas.

seriously.

p/s: you better credit me in your thank-you-note for that catchy name. remind me to claim royalties in the future. Hell?Okay.Maybe.

multi-purpose RM1 button-up shirt

at the previous Celcom UOX event, held at capsquare, i was browsing the stalls selling all those wonderful cheap clothes, eye-ing for the best bargains offered when a girl called out, "we're selling these off at RM1 each!" indicating to a large bundle in front of her. well, being a real cheapskate i am, quickly i rummaged through the bundle of joy. haha! i found a grey off-shoulder top & a really big black button-up shirt. the black shirt looked spankingly brand new. i'm not sure if the previous owner did actually wear them or not but, who cares. i got it for RM1. once, i wore it as a shirt dress, adding my mom's red OB-belt. last sunday, my sister pestered me to accompany her about her business and though there were piles of clothes on my bed for me to choose from, i still told myself, "i'm so out of stuff to wear!". a mystery yet to be revealed in the future among we girls...then i remembered the black shirt. so, inspired by ProjectMuffStit, this is what i wore last sunday:

thanks for the inspiration! and let us all find out the answer on the mystery of: "i don't have anymore stuff to wear!"-though-the-closet-is-full-of-clothes-for-you-to-mix-and-match.

ecology of love

this short film is already 4 years old, made it's debut in 2004. starring Pharrell Williams and Dania Ramirez, the story evolves around Andre (Pharrell) who was broken-hearted & drove his way out to the desert to mend his soul. always with his classic video camera, he met with a French speaking girl at an inn. this 18-minutes clip, directed by Brin Hill, featured Neptune's remix of Sade's 'By Your Side'.

Ecology of Love (you need to refresh the page to get to the short film)

Pharrell looked extra cute when he didn't get what the girl was saying :D

signature helmets

if i were to own a motorbike, besides vespa, i'd like that old school honda thingy. what do you call them? 'lampu bulat' (round head-light).

and one of these awesome helmets designed by Jérôme coste. apparently, his own breakneck temperament which earned him six cranial traumatisms made him obsessed with safety headgears. the helmets also comes with matching scarves. sweet!

now that raya has been celebrated (or some of us are still celebrating it), it's back to those beautiful colourful weekends. aiya caramba, baybeh! okay. i must've over-reacted but yes, i am excited for all those upcoming events that will fill my weekends. it's the rainy season, meaning no island trips for me until next year. boo-hoo! i should crack my brains for my birthday getaway though. any ideas?

anyways, here are two must-GO events for tonight. it's only thursday i'm already greedy for two events per night? nope. i'm not kidding, people! and yes, i'm still going to the office on friday. got a deadline to catch!

okay. so tonight, we go here first (no skip-skip. this is a MUST)

then when you're done shopping and act all fashionista and stuff, we party with robotic dance movements. so fun!

Cloth & Clef is only 15 minutes drive from Bangsar. so stop hesitating!

black & white fest

you know how mysteriously black & white photos can look very dramatic? and how when you look at them for quite sometime, you can actually feel the feeling of what the photo try to express to you? black & white photographs have always been my favourite and how lucky, there's an exhibition going on at the annexe, central market from the 19th of september until october 5th. not only photographs by bernice chauly but they have also included some film stills from early Malay movies by amir muhammad and liza manshoor. a photography exhibition not to be missed!

merdeka art for grabs

here are some pictures i managed to snap last sunday, 31st august 2008 at the annexe. with most of my money spent on the island getaway, most of the time i was there with my sister and a friend from melaka (eh. not hang tuah or those other hangs ya) we hung out at the food not bombs booth upstairs. you're given the chance of painting the ceramics provided and donate if you want to bring it home. so we donated. hehe.

can i have a suggestion? next time, dear organizers, can you do such cool events on the first weekend of the month so i get to spend on the affordable fancy stuff? pretty please, okay.
